SOCCER PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
The “Field of Dreams” soccer program of the JCC of the Greater Five Towns is for children with neurological and/or physical handicapping conditions. In conjunction with the Hewlett-Lawrence Soccer Club, this program is designed to accommodate those children who are unable to participate in a typical or mainstream soccer program. Children with autism, auditory or visual impairments, or orthopedic issues would greatly benefit from this program. The JCC of the Greater Five Towns and the Hewlett-Lawrence Soccer Club are working together to set up a special learning environment that is specifically tailored to address and compensate for any cognitive and/or physical issues that have previously prevented any child from playing soccer.

The JCC has a Fall and Spring schedule similar to that of a typical or mainstream soccer program. Each seasonal schedule is made up of skill sessions, which are run by JCC staff in conjunction with professional trainers from the Hewlett-Lawrence Soccer Club. The premise of these sessions is to teach the game of soccer while providing a fun and pressure-free environment.

Volunteers who will serve as peer mentors in this special program are also needed. If you are interested in enrolling your child or would like to volunteer, please contact Gayle Fremed at 516-569-6733, ext. 211.
